Project Reveal: Local Carlsbad co-working space is LIVE!
/It’s a wrap! Our exclusive, amenity focused co-working project is launching after six months of design development, city submittals, architecture drawings and the biggest curve ball of all, Covid-19. The team behind True Work, a new shared office environment focused on hosting select members and offering exclusive amenities (such as noise canceling headphones!) is hands down one of my favorite all time projects. Being given the opportunity to work with the power houses of Align Builders to bring True Work to life, I feel truly enriched. Read all about the journey of this amazing space and how it came to be.
THE INSPIRATION:
We fell in love with a few different design concepts from the beginning so it took some time to hone in on the final elements. The inspiration for True Works is all about outdoor exploration. Something Californian’s know all about. Whether it be the mountains, the beach or our expansive sky we fully appreciate the beauty of our outdoor lifestyle. Farrow & Ball’s Inchyra Blue was chosen as our foundational color for its properties of both blue and green, reminiscent of the ocean and the land.
THE KITCHEN:
A lot of love went into the kitchen. Similar to residential projects where so much attention and effort is given towards this space, we created a kitchen of my (personal) dreams. All custom cabinetry was done by a local wood working company who also built our kitchen table and conference table (more on that below!). The under counter refrigerators and beverage drawers are expertly hidden behind cabinetry for a seamless look consistent with a modern cabin.
And can we talk about this tile?! Sourced from cle’ tile in California, we used Liberty Brick in Bergen for the back splash walls and Zelliage in matte charred cedar for the soffit wall and it goes all the way up to the 15’ ceiling. The custom taps were etched by an etsy artist and are all components of the True Work logo serving up kombucha, cold brew and beer from local San Diego brands.
SUPPORTING LOCAL:
One of our company missions is prioritizing collaborations with local artisans and talent to create custom pieces that translate into art and bring out the beauty in every space. Plus, supporting small feels so good and helps make the world go ‘round.
We commissioned local iron worker Josh Poe of Poe Built to construct a patina wrap for our fireplace and custom iron bookshelves situated at the entry of the space. The concept for this concierge and lounge area is to create a warm and inviting room for guest and members to enjoy. It’s one of my favorite features that as a member I know I would appreciate.
OFFICE SPACE OF THE FUTURE:
Having postponed this project which was due to launch in March, there was lots of discussion about what would our office environment ultimately look like? Co-working spaces will now more than ever be a necessity. An article written by Forbes explains why. One of the biggest reasons Covid-19 will increase demand for these type of work spaces is to provide smaller teams from larger corporations a meeting place with less risk and fewer people. I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a peak into our most recent commercial project. This job was a dream come true not only to work with such good people, but to be able to create a space that will now be a need to so many locals and regional people looking for a place to work that fits their needs.
