How to design a room using the favorites feature on interior design shopping sites
/The most common question I get as a designer is “how do I pull it all together?”. There are endless options on lighting, furnishings, accessories and even the coolest tile (check out https://www.cletile.com/) which we’re using in a current project for a new co-working space in Carlsbad. More to come on that soon!
With so many interior design shopping sites offering a wish list or favorites feature and some even showing what it could look like in your space, you’d think it would be easy to throw a room together. Right? The trouble is there are just SOOOOO many pieces to choose from and hundreds of shopping sites. Recently my brother and his wife purchased a new home in Los Angeles, CA and we were having the exact same conversation. They have items from different sites they LOVE but are getting stumped on what to do with it all.
So, I wanted to share a little about how we create the vision to try and help some of you. You’re welcome :) The easiest way to get started is you guessed it… create your Wish List or save Favorites on each site. We used https://www.westelm.com/ to create a favorite list to build out our dining room. So you’ll see below a few key pieces we like and might want to use in the final design before placing orders for product. The hard part about this is we want to source from different vendors so how then do we put it all together? Keep reading… I promise it will be helpful :)
We’re letting you in on a little secret here but it’s really nothing new. Remember those scrap books you created back in the 90’s? You’d simply grab a pair of scissors and cut ideas and inspiration to bring a page to life. Well this is no different really. Essentially what we do is digitally clip all the items we like and might want to purchase for a project and then place them onto a vision board. There are a few examples on our instagram page https://www.instagram.com/terrasolinteriors/ and below we’re showing you a board and final outcome for a project we did in Carlsbad, CA. So back to the process, once we like what we see, the board gets sent to to our clients for final approval. And then the magic happens! We get busy purchasing and once the shipments are received, VOILA! It’s install day, which is really just Christmas for us!
I hope this is helpful for you guys! If you’d like any more information or you’re still stuck and want our help. You know where to find us. Cheers!
